The Good News, the Sad News...

The good news is that the Mass time at Holy Family Cathedral has been moved from Saturday, 7:30PM, to Sunday at 4:00PM.

The sad news is that it is no longer the Extraordinary Form of the Mass. Instead, it will be the Dominican Rite.

God bless the Dominicans!

You can still catch the 9:00AM low Mass every Friday at St. Andrew's Parish in Eagle River, shown in the picture above.

Christ is Risen! Alleluia!

Sunday celebration of the Extraordinary Form at 7:30AM in the Education Center. A big crowd, but the incense set off the alarms, which brought 3 fire trucks. All's well that ends well... Special thanks to Mr. V for taking the photos. More eye-candy at http://picasaweb.google.com/qtpicavu/20100404HolyFamilyEasterLatinMass?authkey=Gv1sRgCLajmK7i2u6ecA#

...followed by Martinis and Manhatten's at the Crow's Nest. ("Where ever there are four Catholics, there's a fifth.") Special thanks once again to His Excellency Archbishop Roger L. Schwietz, organist and soloist Gary, and the Dominican Friars at Holy Family Cathedral, Anchorage, Alaska.

Foiled! But not for long...

Here's a picture of the renovated Holy Family Center. It's where El Shaddai would like to meet. Currently they meet at Holy Family Cathedral. If they meet at the Holy Family Center, then the Latin Mass Community will have the use of Holy Family Cathedral on Saturday evenings for the celebration of the Extraordinary Form of the Mass. So what's the hold-up? Let's take a closer at that white piece of paper on the window....

It's a conditional certificate of occupancy. It says that until some final inspections occur, no one is allowed to use the Holy Family Center. Those inspections are to happend before February 16. But as anyone in construction knows, negotiating the permitting process is not an easy task. So that's why the Mass has been postponed for now.
